I started Decoding Retirement Life with an aim of sharing information and personal experiences that I hope you will find helpful in building your own post-work lives. Figuring out how to spend your time day after day in retirement is not easy and can be overwhelming. It is also a continual process because the way you want to spend your time will likely change or circumstances will change.
As I have worked on my retirement life I have looked to develop or further hobbies and activities, find new “retirement” friends, maintain a healthy lifestyle, and travel. On the home front I have been organizing and decluttering. All while staying within my budget.
This is the focus of this site.
What I will not cover are topics that require special expertise. For instance, financial planning, estate planning, social security, etc. Though I may discuss my personal experiences within these areas.
As a researcher I tend to collect a lot of information before making decisions. I want this site to be both a blog to share things I’ve done and learned in retirement, but also a place to build a resource library over time with links that will help others build or enhance their own retirement lives. To do all of this, I plan to call on my friend network to provide broader perspectives.
Finally, I welcome your suggestions for topics you would like to see discussed on Decoding Retirement Life or material you would like to see added.
